Sticky Korean Fried Chicken (Two ways: Honey soy & Spicy Gochujang)
Ah, one of Korea's greatest food inventions. Korean fried chicken. One with a honey soy glaze and another with a spicy gochujang glaze!
Ingredients
- 500 g chicken thighs, sliced into cubes.
- Salt
- Pepper
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
- Finely chopped Coriander (optional, for garnish)
Honey Soy Glaze
- 1/3 cup Soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons Sugar
- 2 tablespoons Honey
- 2 tablespoons Vinegar
Spicy Gochujang glaze
- 1/3 cup Soy sauce
- 1/3 cup Sugar
- 2 tablespoons Vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Korean gochujang paste (available at Asian supermarkets)
- 1 teaspoon Hot mustard
- 3 Garlic cloves finely grated
Instructions
- Cut chicken thigh into cubes and marinate with salt and pepper. Set aside for 30-60 mins.
- Add in 1 egg into the chicken and mix to combine.Coat chicken in cornstarch.
- In a pot add oil, turn to medium heat to deep fry chicken for 3-4 minutes and remove. Let it rest for 5 mins. Deep fry a second time on high heat until golden brown!
- In a small pan add all honey soy glaze ingredients. Stir. When it becomes a thicker, sticky glaze, toss chicken through. Taste and adjust seasoning
- Do the same but with the spicy gochujang glaze. Taste and adjust to your liking
- Garnish with sesame seeds, coriander and serve!
